Summary
Oversees overall
supply chain operations, including purchasing and inventory of materials, as
well as selection of key vendors and negotiation of major contracts. Purpose of position is to improve
productivity, quality, and efficiency of operations by driving increasing
levels of performance across the supply base.
Coordinates and resolves issues regarding existing and new
products. Interacts with customers to
ensure that all requirements are being met.
Focuses on strategic sourcing activities and supply chain risk
mitigation.
Essential
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be
assigned.
§ Negotiates high quality at best value. Works with Quality organization to
systematically select suppliers and alternative sourcing. Develops and manages supplier metrics.
§ Assists Department Buyer/Planners with purchasing
activities for production and non-production materials.
§ Responsible for performance of suppliers
§ Responsible for procurement business system data
integrity.
§ Monitors the cost, schedule and scope of assigned
subcontracts to negotiate highest quality at best value.
§ Develops new supply sources where vendors and suppliers
are no longer competitive.
§ Recommends cost savings initiatives including
make-versus-buy analysis or alternate sourcing.
§ Proactively and routinely interacts with suppliers and QA
to resolve quality issues.
§ Establishes new supply chain tools, policies, processes,
systems and procedures to achieve world-class performance.
§ Assists with MRO purchasing.

Qualifications
The
requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or
ability required.
Education and/or Experience
o
BS/BA degree, preferably in Business Administration, Materials
Management, or related field and/or technical degree.
o
Minimum 5 years of increasingly complex professional experience in
materials management or related field, including a minimum of 3 years
experience of effectively selecting and developing suppliers.
o
Must have experience in a fast paced “discrete” manufacturing environment
and have experience with global sourcing.
Other
Skills and Abilities
o
Ability to create and
interpret supply agreements, vendor managed inventory programs, export control
laws and regulations, MRP plans, cost benefit analyses and other supply chain
processes and procedures.
